What is Industrial Razor & Slitter Blades?

Industrial Razor & Slitter Blades are precision cutting tools used in manufacturing to slit large rolls of flexible materials—such as film, paper, foil, nonwovens, and laminates—into multiple narrower rolls in a process called slitting or razor slitting.

These blades operate like industrial‑grade razors, using a sharp edge to slice through materials cleanly at high speeds. This method is valued for its accuracy, minimal dust generation, and ability to handle thin, delicate substrates.

There are two primary blade types:

  • Flat (razor) blades – similar to utility knife blades, ideal for thinner materials (e.g., 70–130 µm films).

  • Circular (rotary) blades – used for thicker or more demanding applications.

Industrial razor and slitter blades are essential consumables in the packaging, printing, plastics, and metal foil industries, enabling efficient, high‑precision slitting operations day in and day out.

Why Carbide ?

Industrial razor&slitter blades are typically made from four materials below:

Carbon steel – moderate hardness and economical.

Stainless steel – corrosion-resistant and durable.

Tungsten carbide – extremely wear-resistant, suitable for high-volume or high-abrasion operations.

Ceramic – excellent durability and low coefficient of friction.

Comparing to the other 3 material, Industrial razor&slitter blades  with carbide material provide longer tool life and decreased cycle times, also has good performance of high hardness and long wear life. For high-volume, uninterrupted automated production, downtime for blade replacement is extremely costly. While tungsten carbide blades are expensive, their exceptionally long lifespan significantly reduces the frequency of blade replacements and downtime, resulting in the lowest cost per cut in the long run. They offer the best value for money in applications requiring extreme durability.

Main Industrial Slitting Series of ToolingBox:

1.Three-hole Slitter Blades For Chemical Fiber /Film Industry:

ToolingBox film slitter blades with 3 holes are manufactured from high‑grade tungsten carbide, delivering exceptional hardness and wear resistance for demanding slitting operations. Through precision‑engineered composition and advanced heat treatment, they achieve an optimal balance between hardness and toughness, ensuring reliable performance even under continuous high‑speed production. The cutting edge is mirror‑ground and inspected at 50× magnification to verify a defect‑free surface, guaranteeing sharpness and smoothness that effectively prevents material adhesion, reduces dust generation, and produces clean, burr‑free slit edges roll after roll.

Three-hole slitter blades of ToolingBox are widely deployed on bag-making machines, slitter-rewinders, and other converting lines. They are engineered to cut a diverse range of materials, including BOPP film, release liner, lithium battery separator, pearlised film, kraft paper, paper-plastic composites, adhesive tape, and aluminium foil—delivering stable, reliable results across various converting operations.
